The Internet was first conceived as a top-secret program of the United States military, which, at that time, wanted to establish an interconnected network of stable computer systems. Years since its conception and introduction to general use, the Internet has proven its usefulness to society. A lot of human activities have been made more convenient and effective by the Internet. Obviously, the Internet, along with the World Wide Web, has had a strongest impact on the area of communications. Gone are the days of people’s dependence on snail mail and telephone lines, which often made communication and the trading of information inconvenient. These days, people use email and instant messaging to exchange correspondence and information. In relation to communications, socialization has also been altered by the breakthroughs brought about by the Internet. The concept of social networking has suddenly come into the picture, allowing individuals to interact with each other regardless of limitations such as geography and time. Businesses can also take advantage of the communication and socialization benefits brought by the Web and the Internet. For instance, social network development can be utilized by businesses for the purposes of marketing, advertising, and market expansion. Through social networking websites, the existence of a business can reach a wider audience, which may generate increased interest in the business’ products or services. Aside from social network design, business owners can also use the Web to promote their businesses’ offerings. The flexible nature of the Web works well for businesses, in terms of effective online marketing methods. At the same time, the Web’s ability to bridge gaps caused by limitations in time and space enables businesses to reach new consumers and engage in transactions at any time of the day. Lastly, business owners can use existing online search engines to establish and strengthen their business’ presence on the Web. Through SEO architecture, enterprises can gain much-needed exposure, which ultimately leads to greater visibility to Web users, who form a potential consumer base. Effective SEO campaigns can be executed by in-house teams, although business owners can also choose to outsource these services to third-party companies.
