We all know we can’t get everything done in a day, but we can take action on some things in our lives that will help us move forward. What we decide to do and what we decide to put of one more day is an important decision. We need to be sure that whatever decision we make is not to satisfy our own desires but to help others and to do what God wants us to do so that we can make a difference.

When we wait one more day on talking to someone about Jesus or helping someone, it may be our last chance to help them. If we wait one more day to sit down with our children and spend time with them doing the things they enjoy, it may be our last opportunity to show them we care and love them. If we put off talking to God and reading His word, we will not learn what plans He has for us.

Galatians 6:8 “Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.”

If we take action on something too soon, we may find out that we should have waited a little longer. Making a quick decision when we should have waited may lead us down the wrong road. Acting out for the wrong reasons or getting angry without hearing the whole story may destroy a relationship. Deciding to do something for money and not weighing all our options may lead to a life of loneliness.

The best thing to do about decisions is to let God handle them. Instead of putting things off something for one more day or continuing to do the wrong things one more day, we need to spend one more day with God. We need to pray one more day. We need to read God’s word one more day. We need to be obedient to Him one more day and reach out to serve others. While we are doing these things, God will provide the answers we need in all the areas of our lives.

When we feel we just have to do something or when we feel that we just have to do nothing, we are not letting God handle things. Focusing on doing what He requires of us will allow us to either wait or move on, but it will be God’s decision and not ours. By doing this, we will find the things we worried about last week have been handled by God while we were doing what we were supposed to do for Him.

If we only had one more day on earth, would we want to do God’s will or do our own will? What kind of answer would we have for Him at the Pearly Gates tomorrow if we decided to take matters in our own hands today by doing or not doing what we felt like? What if today is our last day on earth? What do we want to tell God tomorrow? We probably will want to tell Him we decided to go one more day doing His will and having faith in Him to handle all areas of our lives. We probably will want to tell Him that we chose Him to work in our lives to help others and to make a difference.
