As more and more people learn to use personal computers with ease, and skill, it becomes a valuable asset for employers to have their workers train at home. Setting aside the details of whether or not you get paid for your time (and you should!) let’s focus on the training itself.

Most workers are less than happy about learning they need to spend a few days in a classroom or sitting in their company boardroom with a bunch of fellow staff members to learn the latest information in safety and performance techniques. With the use of online training we can maximize the convenience and comfort of this training by allowing workers to use a portable work station. As long as you have an internet connection you are able to access the same course material as your fellow students and the details of whether you are inside the classroom or on your back patio become obsolete.

This is good news for the employer because it creates consistency from one class to another. They don’t need to worry if their trainer is impatient or had a bad day; they know exactly what material will be covered and what the minimum standards are which must be met. If there is any question as to whether or not the worker is the one taking the training, then a follow up quiz can be performed in the office at a later date to ensure this happens, or it can be done in a proctored situation.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of online training is the ability for a worker to learn at his or her own pace and review material as they need to in order to best understand the content. In a class setting of peers you will rarely fine one student who will stand up and say they don’t follow a concept. But in an online situation this type of embarrassment is avoided, clearing the way for greater understanding of course material and wider acceptance by the employee.

When workers have control over what is being thrust upon them they will have a greater level of acceptance in the long run. By allowing the worker to choose the speed, the volume, the repeat rate, the location where they learn, you are setting your workers up for success which in the end is truly setting your company up for success as well.
