“If we do not take urgent action to restore and protect our ocean we will soon face an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”

This is a direct quote from an article on the World Economic Forum blog. Full article here. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/06/if-we-dont-protect-ocean-humanitarian-disaster-world-oceans-day

Choosing a whole food, plant based eating protocol goes much deeper than our own health. It directly impacts the health of our oceans and ultimately our environment.

“I’m just one person. What difference will it make in the big picture?” Actually, a lot when you realize that millions of people are choosing to go plant based.

Vegan is NOT Always Healthy

Being plant based can also be considered being vegan. Yet, you can be vegan and eat very unhealthy. You can also be vegan and not be whole food, plant based. I know, it can be confusing, but stick with me.

I’m a proponent of being meat, dairy, poultry and fish free in my eating. I advocate healthy whole food, plant based lifestyle for a number of reasons. One, my health. Two, compassion to animals. Three, kindness to the environment.

Obviously, I’m not alone. The #1 trend on twitter is vegan tweets. More every day, people are discovering the benefits of changing up the way they are consuming foods. https://www.plantbasednews.org/post/vegan-number-one-trend-twitter-2019

Plant Based Eating for Health

When I started my blog and Facebook Group, Plant Based Eating for Health, I did so with the thought in mind that our health goes beyond simply what we eat. It is the health of our mind, body and soul. It is the health of animals. It is the health of the planet.

The further I get into the lifestyle, the more shocked I am at how little people know about the destruction people are causing by their food choices. The destruction due to farmed animals. The destruction to our rain forests. The destruction to our oceans, rivers and lakes.

Information is Essential

Regardless of what choice you make, arm yourself with information in order to make the best choice possible. Making a decision without having as much information as possible, is likely not making the the best choice.

To educate yourself, watch documentaries like Forks Over Knives, PlantPure Nation, H.O.P.E. What You Eat Matters and other informative (and often shocking) films that pull back the curtain.

If you’re like me, once you watch these films, you can never go back to the way things were.
