It is certain that the Packers are the current best team in the league as they have a perfect record of 6-0, but even so, Coach Mike McCarthy feels that there are certain areas where the team can do better, and they are working to be at full capacity when they visit the Vikings, their all-time rivals at the NFC North.

If Green Bay manages to come up with the victory, it will be the first time in 50 years that they open the season with seven straight wins, and on the other side, if the Vikings are not able to win, it will be the first time in more than 2 decades that they have such a poor start as they are currently 1-5.

Sure, the Packers acquired a 24-3 victory over the Rams on Sunday, but McCarthy feels that they lack the kind of performance he is looking for, as Green Bay didn’t scored in the second half and allowed for 424 yards. “We’ve put good numbers up, but we have to get better, you have to be running on all cylinders and we’re not there, yet. Yes, we put up big numbers, but we’re not at the level we feel we can beat.” McCarthy said after the game against St Louis.

But in despite of some vulnerable areas, the team feels satisfied since they hadn’t had a 6-0 record since 1965, and they have also won twelve straight games, matching a franchise record which was set at the 61-62 season.

Green Bay has shown that they are not performing at their best against the pass, as they are currently ranked 31 in the league with 299.7 yards allowed per match, and since the Vikings are using a new quarterback in Christian Ponder, they know that this will not be the same team that has been losing, as coach Leslie Frazier trusts that the rookie is going to bring a good performance in order to remain as the starting quarterback instead of Donovan McNabb, specially because Ponder will be joined by Adrian Peterson, one of the best running backs in the league.

But when it comes to matching Aaron Rodgers to Ponder, it is clear that the Packers’ quarterback is the better of the two as he is currently performing at a MVP level with seventeen touchdowns and has outstanding statistics concerning his passer rating (122.5) and his completion percentage (70.2).

This will be definitely a game where the Packers will have to show that they are still superior to the Vikings, and also a chance for Ponder to try to win the appreciation of the Minnesota fans, which are not very hopeful about their team.
