If you have to take a pain medication regularly, even if you don't take it daily, you want to feel reassured that you won't have a huge number of side effects to go with it.
Most pain relief medication has a list of side effects that can scare anyone, but often they're rare or they disappear within the first few days. You're likely to want to avoid side effects though if you can help it.
So what pain relief can you take where you'll experience minimal side effects?
Ventolin
If you need an inhaler for asthma then Ventolin is a good option as it has few side effects.
Ventolin helps relieve symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by relaxing the airways and making it easier to breathe. You usually get Ventolin in the form of an inhaler.
Some people experience a few side effects such as feeling shaky or get a headache but your asthma or COPD clinic can help, as these side effects are often down to not using your inhaler properly. You can buy Ventolin online too which makes it easy and cheaper to purchase.
Paracetamol
Paracetamol is a very common medication for pain relief which is used to treat aches and pains which are not nerve affected such as headaches, toothache, or sprains. It can also help to reduce fever so it's good for colds and flu.
It works by blocking the messages in our brain that tell us we have pain. It also blocks the messages in our brain related to body temperature which is why it's good for fevers.
There are very few known side effects of paracetamol so it's a good general drug to take for pain relief. Only take the stated dose and no more though, as it is possible to overdose on paracetamol.
Diclofenac
Diclofenac is a medication that is used to treat muscle and joint pain. It's common in use with arthritis, sprains, back pain and migraines.
Diclofenac can have some side effects when taken as a tablet. Side effects such as headaches, dizziness and stomach pain can occur but these do not affect everyone. However you can really limit the side effects by using Diclofenac as a gel, which you then apply to the affected area.
By using the gel you're not getting as much of the medicine directly into your body but you're still applying to the affected area.
