Certainly, pregnancy and back pain comes along together. Most of the time, you can see a pregnant woman rubbing her stomach while uncomfortably holding her back. Why do you think most pregnant women have hurting backs? Back pain is connected to several factors that may be experienced by women with the arrival of pregnancy. Here is a list of possible causes of pregnancy back pain:
- Increased production of hormones- Hormones are rapidly released during pregnancy and one of these is the hormone Relaxin. This hormone plays an important role in giving birth. It softens the ligaments, thus, allowing the baby to get out through the pelvis. However, it makes the ligaments soften and affects the support that it provides on your back.
- Gaining extra weight- During pregnancy, you gain weight from your growing fetus. This can lead your back to feel pain while losing its posture.
- Posture and changing of positions- Prolonged standing, bending, and improper posture increases the pain on your back.
- Do some pelvic exercise.
- Maintain proper posture.
- Avoid sleeping on your back.
- Have pillows on your back when sitting to reduce discomfort.
- Avoid high heels shoes.
- Avoid bending over when you want to pick up something. The best way to do that is to squat.
