1. Mass email is not SPAM, and should not be distributed as such. The first way to make sure that you aren’t accidentally marketing yourself in a SPAM-like way is to put together a recipient list in a careful manner. It’s not enough to send out emails to random addresses. Rather, curate a list of recipients in a thoughtful and mindful way, so that you can avoid bothering anyone.
2. Once you have your list of recipients all squared away, you can begin designing your email. Make sure that you are keeping in mind that an email is unlike any other medium. Don’t design your mass email the same way that you would design a web page. Make sure that all you links and images work before sending out your message!
3. When sending, it’s actually better to break up your recipient list into small groups. SPAM filters can pick up on when an email has been sent out to many, many people at once. If that happens, your message could end up in the junk folder with the rest of the SPAM. Make sure that this doesn’t happen to you by keeping the number of recipients per email pretty low.
4. Try to personalize your mass emails as much as possible. A simple gesture like including a recipient’s first name in the email can have a huge effect on how your email is received. Try to schedule additional emails on days that are special to the person, like a birthday greeting with a special coupon. These kinds of efforts can make a customer feel very personally connected to your company or brand!
Mass email can be a wonderful tool for any marketing campaign, as long as it is done well. By following the tips listed above, you will be well on your way to creating a great and successful email campaign that is sure to win customers over to your business or brand in a snap!
