Perhaps one of the more interesting emails I got yesterday asked me if women with PCOS can develop hirsutism over the course of the condition. Hirsutism is otherwise known as a hormonal disorder that causes hair to grow at abnormal rates. She asked me about possible treatments for this symptom of PCOS, so I thought to myself that this topic is less explored enough as it is; so I thought I’d crack the nut on this one. Just to get to the point, treating a symptom isn’t as effective as treating the inherent condition that governs it. Why treat excessive hair growth when you could get rid of PCOS, the very thing that made it happen in the first place? But the case is different with women. Abnormal hair growth in all the wrong places can be quite an embarrassing sight to see. So how do you go about it? Well, you need to understand why this happens first. PCOS is a condition that causes insulin resistance, which in turn causes hormone imbalances in your body. These imbalances of course give way to a sudden rise in androgens which are essentially male hormones that females do not produce in too much levels of. And this is why your body experiences hirsutism. You can no doubt remove the hairs on your body, but if you cant cure yourself of PCOS, it’ll just come back again. So How Do I Do This? Prioritize on treating your insulin resistance. This is what makes everything worse, so if you take care of it, it will normalize your hormones. And when you have normalized hormones, you’ll have a normalized growth of hair! Removing Hair Shaving them off is usually the easiest way to do this. Although you may want to repeat this process as excess hair grows, it’s a simple solution for a relatively problematic symptom of PCOS. You can also try hair removal solutions...or plucking them if you have that sort of time on your hands. Laser treatment is also a good solution if you can afford it and can take the pain that comes along with it. If you want my advice, it’s best to stick to shaving since it’s instant and plausible. So rather than throwing your money at expensive means to removing excessive hair, you can check out the PCOS Hair Growth Treatment. Insulin Resistance Treatment for PCOS In order to stop hormonal imbalances, you need to stop the flow of androgens – and to do that you need a lot more than just shaving cream and a shave. You need a change of lifestyle, improved exercise as well as strengthening your mental habits.rnHere are three main points:
  • Eat Healthy. Eat food with a lower GI count to help manage your blood sugar.
  • Exercise when you can.
  • Eliminate Stress.
