Perception Makes A Difference

Having perception means that you have the ability to attain understanding and awareness through the senses. Now perception is a mental image an awareness or consciousness of the observation or result. When looking at the definition of perception you hope that everyone perceives the same concept. But look at the definition closely the phrase “awareness through the senses.” Do you believe that the result of this type of awareness is viewed by everyone? Perception is good, but in a business, a coaching session, or even sales the direction will need to be perceived the same way.

Visio

To help have the same perception from everyone, you will need to set goals, and have everyone repeat them back to you. This is a good way to find out if everyone understands those goals. Do you have a business plan? Do you have an idea of how you are going to meet your needs? If not, then set down with your client, your sales department, your customer, and figure out a way to be on the same page.

Think about this. You have decided to paint the interior of your office a soothing yellow. You have several staff employees. Do you think they are seeing the same color? Some will see a mustard yellow, some will see a butter cookie color and others some other color. Yes you could take a sample from the brochure to everyone, or paint a small area of the room to show what it will look like. The most important decisions are to make each person aware of your intention.

Clarity

To be aware with our senses means we have to engage ourselves to be observant. We ourselves must be cognitive enough to focus on our goals, and see that our whole surroundings if applicable are focused and clear on the goals. Sometimes what happens is that you may be focused, but your business or coaching experience becomes less focused, and chaotic. Take some time out of your busy schedule, and become aware of your goals, and see what needs to improve.

Changes are there that if your business, personal life or coaching is not achieving, then not everyone is clear on the goals and purpose. A client of your coaching work decides his perception is he’s doing the work you have asked. In reality that client has decided something totally different. He’s working on something else. His perception of the assignment is not clear at all.

Directio

To get everyone going in the same direction make decisions based on your goals, and needs. Make certain that your client, business, and customer understand your specific goals. Then as well make certain that your client or customer has explained his/her needs to you. Are you clear? Are the other people clear? Perception can make a difference in success or failure.

Decide your direction, listen to other people’s direction, and repeat it back to them, and their direction back to you. This is a sure way to have the same perception. I could be working on something that I think is very important, and then the boss; the customer thinks that I really don’t know what is important. Prioritize the goals. Provide a flow chart, an outline and describe the exact finished project.

People

People respond differently when they use their senses. In order to have everyone on the same page, you will need to be clear on the direction in which you are going. Have a vision and goals for your desired outcome. Show, describe, and explain the finished product. Follow your business plan, and have each person involved repeat the goal, and plan that is to be followed. By doing this everyone will see that the color of the wall is a butter cookie color. There won’t be any differences. Perception is tough to grasp, and we humans see, feel, hear, and understand differently.
