Most cats and dogs love playing outside. If you are an owner who likes to play with your pets, then you should know that it is important for your pets to go out and get some sunshine at least a couple of hours every day. This is one reason why so many stores these days offer all kinds of pet accessories, such as play toys and Power pet doors, both of which can enhance your pet's outdoor experience. If you are planning to make a Power pet door that your cats and dogs can use for themselves, then you should take note of the following: - Look at how many pets you have. Some homeowners keep just a dog or two, while others have a whole bunch of pets under one roof. If you have cats and dogs then it is important for you to take note of these since they will be the ones that will be using the Power pet door you are to install. - Consider the size of your pets. You want everyone to be able to use the pet door you have installed. However, your chosen pet door may be too small for your taller or larger dogs. You might only make your cat or dog feel out-of-place if it can't get through the door but other pets can. To get the right height and width, use your tallest or biggest pet as a measuring stick. Measure the height of your dog from his chest all the way down to the floor and his width from shoulder to shoulder. Make sure to add some allowance so that your feline and canine friends walk out the door safely and comfortably. The measurements you end up with would be the needed dimensions of your pet door. - Determine where you will put the door. You might want a Power pet door that's placed nicely in a spot that your pets can easily step in and out of. You can put your doors either on the back of your house or in front if you have a lawn and a surrounding fence. Also, if your house's design is a big deal to you, you might want the pet door to coordinate with your existing home styling. Make sure you make or buy a Power pet door that would match perfectly with the type of main door you have in your house. - Make it easy for your pets Most importantly, install the door in such a way that your pets will find it easy to use. Remember, your pets will have to get used to the door before they can actually use it. You can make things a whole lot simpler for your pets if you prevent them from jumping through hoops and loops just to go outside. Power pet doors will also help you if your pets are undergoing potty training. As you will not have to stand up every time your cat or your dog scratches on the doors, it would be a convenient thing to have.
