Boxing is a very competitive sport and also a very popular workout. Most of the martial arts are full contact sports and are very intense. As a result you need the right gear to perform effectively and also for your own safety.
If you are just starting out with boxing, you will not need a lot of boxing gear. You would need just the basic gear and this gear should last you for quite a while. However, as you progress in the ladder of boxing, you will need to buy more professional equipment to perform your best on the competitive stage.
When you are starting out, the basic boxing gear will do. If you want to save on budget you can get used boxing gear. However you should know where you get your used boxing gear from. This is because used boxing gear can be dangerous at times. This is true especially if there is not enough protection or padding.
This mostly erodes from overuse. Boxing gear is very important for your protection. You can very easily get injured if you are using defective boxing gear. Just because it is cheap does not mean that you can pick it up in one go. You need to see if it meets the basic requirements of protection. There are many resellers of used boxing equipment. Go to the ones that have a good reputation even if they cost a little extra. Also if you have joined a gym you will have access to many used boxing equipment that are thou used, still in good shape.
When you start out your boxing training the first thing you need to buy are hand wraps. Hand wraps are very important because they provide the basic protection to your knuckles and wrists. Also this is mainly used to stabilize your wrist. When you are punching it is very important that you keep your wrists straight. If you don’t then you will be prone to fractures and strains.
Therefore you need to be very careful when you are punching so that you don’t damage your hand. With the help of hand wraps you can effectively take care of your wrist. These are worn under the bag gloves.
The bag gloves are your second and main level of protection. You cannot be punching bare fisted in to the punching bag. It would only hurt your fist. To give protection to your fist, the bag gloves are used. You will need this as your start out boxing.
These are different from actual boxing gloves that you would use in the ring. These are just meant for training and should be also used for such.
Next in the list of boxing equipment are the boxing shoes. Footwork is very essential in boxing. You need to move your feet around as your fight. Also you need to have a good grip on the ground to deliver powerful punches. Therefore you would need appropriate boxing shoes that would serve this purpose. You can buy all such starting equipment online.
