Most people know about the healing qualities of pineapple but most don’t know about the amazing healing qualities of pineapple skin. Pineapple skin tea is a powerful healing agent that can build up our probiotic bacteria in our gut… thus boosting up our immune system and it’s a great anti-inflammatory agent and so much more. And pineapple skin tea is free, it’s one of the things we throw away when we eat pineapple… and thus we have a free healing agent.

Buy Ripe Organic Pineapple - First of all to make pineapple skin tea it’s absolutely important to use organic pineapple. All those pesticides, fertilizers, and herbicides are not good for the body, so make sure to buy organic pineapple. Also unripe pineapple skin can be toxic, so make sure the pineapple is ripe. Fortunately most pineapple does not contain a lot of chemicals, even though it’s not organic - pineapple is listed as one of the cleanest foods around in general - so enjoy!

How to Make Pineapple Skin Tea - Remove the skin from a large pineapple and cut into small chunks and wash all the chucks well. Then place in a sauce pan with enough water to cover all the pineapple skin, about a liter or so, and boil on high for 5 minutes and then let simmer for 45 minutes to an hour or even longer, then let everything cool and strain the resulting tea. The longer the simmering time the darker the tea.

Taste - The resulting tea is very tasty with a little bit of a tang and lots of pineapple flavor. Add some stevia, honey, or any other type of sweetener of choice and this tea can be enjoyed all day long, either hot or cold. And some people also add ginger, lemon, or other fruit flavorings to make it even more exciting.

Dose - Take as needed, there are no real side effects to drinking pineapple tea.

Other Teas from Around the World - In Nigeria and in Mexico they make a refreshing drinks with pineapple skin. In Nigeria they call the tea Zoborodo and they add hibiscus flowers to make it red in color and it contains more Vitamin C, plus ginger, and some lime juice… very refreshing when served cold. In Mexico they make Tepache which contains pineapple skin and pineapple core which is boiled with cinnamon, cloves, and sweetened with natural brown sugar and it’s usually served with ice. And in some places in the world they also make pineapple skin juice. They do this by passing the pineapple skin with the little bit of pulp attached through a good juicer to make a very refreshing juice.
