Pink City of Jaipur

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan. It is also known as "Pink city" and pink with beautifully constructed palaces, havelis and forts. It is just 300 kilometers faraway from Delhi, and 200 kilometers from Agra. In old Age, Jaipur was covered by seven gates. Those are chandpol, Sanganeri and Ajmeri.Tall, rugged men with handle-bar whiskers sport link colored turbans were built in 1727 A.D. by Sawai Jai Singh-II. Jaipur was the first planned city of its time, was designed by the architect "VIDHYADHAR BHATTACHARYA". He used the principles of town planning, as laid down in the shipla Shasta, an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. He builds the city palace and the largest stone observatory in the world employing the same principles. The urban quarters are further divided by networks of gridded streets. Five quarters wrap around the east, south, and west sides of a central palace quarter, with a sixth quarter immediately to the east. The Palace quarter encloses a sprawling palace complex, (Hawa Mahal), formal gardens, and a small lake. Nahargarh Fort, which was the residence of the King Sawai Jai Singh II, crowns the hill in the northwest corner of the old city.
