I was in Tanzania and Zanzibar last some fourteen years ago and this is where I first fell under the powerful spell of Africa - I just could not get over the huge open plains of the Serengeti to the odd acacia tree in the landscape and the mountains in the distance, sporadically dotted with the red shukkas, Masai and their cattle. Literally breathtaking and classic Africa. I look forward to review and see what has changed during that time as well as see some new areas, such as the Selous Game Reserve, Pemba Island off Zanzibar, as well as Tarangire National Park and Loliondo to the north. As I covered a lot of ground in this journey, I will just mention a few of the highlights.

Selous Game Reserve - my new favorite safari destination! It is one of the largest game reserves in Africa, compared to a few camps, so that wonderful feeling of remoteness. Entry into the country and go straight to Kiba Point is spoiling the trip was the beginning. This is part of the river sand, but it is a private camp that is taken only up to 8 people - it looks at four very spacious and open-sided thatched rooms more like home!) Rufiji River the largest river in East Africa.

Full luxury and well-run, this camp has a great home away from home feeling, and it offers a variety of activities ..... my favorite is our boat trip upstream to Stiegler 'Gorge, where we stopped an hour after the game watching (we saw buffalo, hippos, elephants, giraffe and many water birds) out on the beautiful white sand beach surrounded by cliffs and steep gorge sides, bursting with life and trees. Here, we tried fly fishing in our forces, and between us we caught three catfish! What a stunning place to just stop and surrounded by nature. drive you to the beautiful scenery, rich, and despite the recent much needed rain, and some of us came out perfect walking through the bush to find yourself a hill with a fantastic 360-degree view and full bar set up our sundowners. Fly ove
ight camping on the river is a must. There is a huge seafood lover, I'm very happy to be served delicious squid and red snapper, while staying at Kiba Point - these are just a short distance from the shore, so it was fantastic news for the seafood bush!

Pemba Island and the Gulf Fund - only lodge on the island, you know you're going somewhere special! A short 20 minute flight from Zanzibar and then you met Fund lagoon by car, driven 30 minutes across the island to catch your boat Fund itself. It was built by two brothers, twins Alex and Marcus, and it really is a great place with very good sense of space - you can be as social or private as you want, and they seem to combine the two efforts.
