There’s something for everyone in Kansas City; while some love Kansas City shopping, there are others who come here to experience dance, drama, ballet, music and everything that’s related to the art world. There are plenty of attractions here in Kansas City; from the famous Country Club Plaza, to the National World War I Museum, the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, and the American Jazz Museum. Here are some of things that you ought to know about this great city:

  • Kansas City offers a wide range of leisure activities for people including shopping, sports, restaurants, museums, festivals, live arts etc. The people too are warm and very friendly. Perhaps the best kept secret about this City are the innumerable museums in and around Kansas City. In fact, many first time tourists are genuinely surprised by the number of museums, art galleries, music avenues, and theater companies that dot the place. The place has a healthy mix of artisans who are involved in the fine arts as well as the performing arts, and also some who are involved in avant-garde.
  • If shopping is your priority, Kansas City is an incredible place to visit. The Country Club Plaza is a great family entertainment center covering more than 150 block districts and 180 restaurants and shops that sell everything from couture to cosmetics, home furnishings and even hosts several art galleries. For the art and music aficionados, The Plaza also hosts the annual Plaza Art Fair, the Plaza Easter Bunnies, and Plaza Live Concerts etc.
  • With more than a 100 BBQ joints, Kansas City is undoubtedly the barbeque capital of the country. The slow smoked meat that is roasted over hickory has certainly hit the right cord with BBQ lovers across the country. And there’s the sauce- Kansas City boasts of the smoothest and the best BBQ sauce. It also hosts the Barbeque Blaze Off –an annual event where BBQ makers from around the country to compete against each other. When dozens of teams gather together to cook, it’s a feast for the senses as the smell of BBQ engulfs the place.
  • Kansas City is also the place to be if you are a food and in awe of celebrity chefs. This city is home to a number of celebrity chefs like Debbie Gold, Colby Garrelts, and Michael Smith. Each of these chefs has their own specialty restaurants (some of which are James Beard Award Winners).
