Consumers should be well aware that the debit card and credit card are two different cards and the former should not be confused with the later. The main difference is in the process of their transaction and protection that is available for the cardholders. Both of the cards have their own benefits and flaws. Therefore, there are certain places where you should not use your debit card. Here are the following places where you should not use the debit card: 1. You should not use your debit card for online transaction as it is directly connected to your checking account. Once you use the card the amount is directly deducted from the account. There are innumerable risks because your card can be misused by the frauds. 2. Your debit card will not give you proper protection against the duplicity as the credit card can do. The credit card helps the card holder to dispute if there is any discrepancy in the credit card statement. The credit card even offers a property insurance coverage if you purchase luxurious products like gadgets and so on. There are a few cards that even come with an extended warranty. 3. Avoid using your debit card in a restaurant as you pay off the bills you have to depart with your card for a certain period of time. The person might deduct more money than have been charged on the bill. The money that has been deducted extra can be treated as tips and they will not inform you before hand. 4. Do not buy travel tickets by using your debit card otherwise your financial information will be leaked out. The frauds can misuse this information and take advantage of this situation. This is called identity theft. You might lose all your money if a miscreant gets hold of your personal information. 5. Make cash payment on your hotel bills otherwise you might have to deposit money with the hotel. If you damage any property of the hotel owner then the money will be deducted from the deposit amount. If you use your debit card then the hoteliers can directly deduct the deposit from your account as they have an access to it. 6. Before you insert your debit card into any of the ATM make sure that the machine is not tampered. If you are doubtful about the machine then you can visit some other ATM to take out your money. The frauds can tamper the ATM machine and once your insert the card and the type the debt card pin your card might get blocked. When you leave the ATM in order to lodge complaint the miscreant can come and take out your hard earned money. These are the five points that you need to keep in mind before you take out your debit card. You should remember that if you are not sincere to manage your debit card then you might lose your hard earned money. You should follow the above mentioned points to avoid trap of the fraudulents.
