Play the hand that you have bee Dealt

Do you remember the movie titled Forrest Gump. His favorite saying was life is like a box of chocolates. In other words life is full of situations and circumstances but you won’t ever know what they are until the time comes. Life is full of surprises. Some of them are good but many are bad. We never know everything that we will encounter in life. My own personal saying is that life is like a game of cards. You don’t know which ones will be dealt to you but you will have a hand to play. Whatever you get can win the game depending on how you play them. It is what it is so just deal with it. There is no sense in worrying about it or crying about it because worrying and crying won’t change a thing. They won’t cause the situation to change to work in your behalf so they are wasted activities. You will have to just deal with it. There is a way to win you just have to find it and make it work. In order to discover the solution you have to think out of the box. The same thinking that got you in the problem won’t get you out. Whatever the course of action that you decide you need to act aggressively on it. When I was in college we used to play cards in our spare time. I played with a bunch of avid cheaters and fast talkers so if my hand wasn’t good I did whatever I had to do to win. I didn’t cheat because I’m not a cheater. Cheating takes all of the accomplishment out of winning. I would bluff, talk trash, or whatever I had to do to make my cards work. I found that the cards were just a small part of the equation. If I spent all of my time bewailing a poor hand I might miss a golden opportunity elsewhere which might secure the win for me. If the cards are not going to work for you add another element to the equation. I was very athletic as a young man but as I grew older my physical abilities began to wane. I found that I could no longer win just by out muscling my opponent. I had to use psychology, or intimidation. I wasn’t too choosey on which of the two that I used I just did what I had to do to win. Sometimes it was my athletic ability, sometimes it was something else. We played a football game once and I had to cover a receiver who was a whole lot taller, bigger, and stronger tha I was. I was faster and could cover him but he would out muscle me for the ball anytime that he chose to. I found that this individual had a hair trigger temper and could be intimidated rather easily so I went to work. This receiver became so angry with me that he forgot about catching the ball and only wanted to harm me. This was good and bad at the same time because I had to cover him, continue to harass him, and stay away from him at the same time but it worked. He didn’t catch a single pass the entire game. Once again there is a solution to every problem that you will face in life but you have to find out what it is. You may have to look under every leaf but you have to find it. The solution won’t be found in the bottom of a liquor bottle or in the medicine cabinet. Open up your mind and look in the places that you are not accustomed to looking. Believe me it’s there.
