Why invest in a POS for your business? Many business owners think that a POS (Point Of Sale) system is only for the big businesses with multiple locations. While that may have been true many years ago, when the cost of a POS was high, with today’s technology the cost has been drastically reduced. Added to the lower cost, the benefits to a business of any size are well worth the investment. First let’s take a look at the benefits to a restaurant, regardless of size. If you manage a restaurant you are well aware of some of the common problems. Orders that are incomplete or incorrect, inventory, hours, and even book keeping. Imagine if you had a way to eliminate these common mistakes. With a POS you can! In one piece of equipment you can ensure that the orders from your waiters are sent to the kitchen correctly, track what menu items are selling and what isn’t, track your staffs hours, and keep track of sales regardless of the form of payment. The days of food being sent back because the cooks misread a check could be eliminated. Inventory and ordering time could be drastically reduced because you would know exactly what menu items you were low on at the touch of a button, and the time it takes to manually add hours could be used for other things, such as interacting with your customers. You would be able to focus your attention on the dining experience being a pleasant one, instead of all the details. Next let’s take a look at the benefits to a small retail business; some of the features are the same, being able to track employee’s hours without a time card, easily tracking sales and inventory. They both allow you to focus on other matters. However, when it comes to sales a POS is an invaluable tool to the retail environment. Instead of hoping that your clerks remember what’s on sale, you would only have to make a few simple changes in the pricing, and you’ll know that every price will be the right one. This will not only keep your customers happy, but it will also speed up the entire check out process. You’ll be able to take care of more customers which will translate into increased profits! Another benefit will be the time saved balancing the books. You’ll easily be able to track your sales for the day and know what’s selling and what isn’t. Regardless of your business type, being able to track all forms of payment with one touch of a button is invaluable. You would no longer be balancing several different reports. Once you count the cash drawer you’re done. Another benefit of a POS is the ability to integrate with QuickBooks. You won’t have to spend hours transferring information from one program to another. You will be able to easily import the information. The proper POS will practically run your business for you! Another benefit regardless of business type is the ability you will have to deter theft. Every time the POS is accessed your employee will be logging in. You will be able to track any suspicious activity, whether it’s free food or unauthorized discounts. If an employee knows that you can see exactly what they’re doing when conducting a sale, the chances are that they will resist the temptation to steal. Every business owner wants tools that will help them grow and make the customers experience a pleasant one as well as the ability to protect their business. While it seems like a large investment, the benefits offered by the proper POS are well worth it. It will give you more time in your day and more money in your pocket!
