Johns was acquainted with an artist Robert Rauschenberg, composer John Cage and choreographer Merce Cunningham. Ivan Petrovich Argunoy He was a Russian painter and known as one of the founders of Russian School Of Portrait Painting. Argunoy studied painting with a German painter Georg Grooth who was employed to Emperess Elizabeth of Russia. Ivan also learned from his cousins Leontyeyich and Semenovich Argunoy who were currently working in Saint-Petersburg on decorating the Imperial residences. His first artworks were the icons for the Palace Church in Great Tsarskoe Selo Palace and for the next Jerusalem Monastery. He also created the famous painting Dying Cleopatra. In 1760s, Argunoy created many lovely and beautiful parade and psychological portraits and icons. He had a lot of subjects like Russian royalties, his masters, and also, not forgetting the portrait of his families and relatives. He was also one of the creators of posthumous portraits .
