Positive affirmations have been a practice that has been going round since a very long time ago and now you can be a more confident person with the benefits of this method. It is not classified as a technology, although the old ideals behind this method has spawned many a scientific arena and machinery (some of note include the ever famous Dream Machine). The root of this method can be tracked back to methods that have been compared to things like creative visualisation and gratitude, which use the same methods of message and visual bombardment to shape the mind into a positive attitude and get rid of all the bad associations that the subconscious might be keeping; affecting your behaviour and how you react to experiential situations. nnIt is known quite well in New Age terminology as a practice of positive thinking, where proponents will use methods and sessions to inculcate a culture of positive mental attitude. In its base form, positive affirmation is simply repeating the same messages over and over again, writing them down frequently until it becomes a part of the thread of the individuals life and has been locked into the subconscious mind. For it to be very effective, the messages that have been carefully sculpted must be extremely positive, very personal, specific and all written in the present tense. This idea has grown very and increasingly famous because of Rhonda Byrne's The Secret - which was also made into a film - and Esther and Jerry Hicks’ hit series The Law of Attraction. nnThese publications and gurus express the same principles to the classic Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. A lot of these modern day literature was inspired by many other publications, particularly by the pioneer of New Thought, Wallace D. Wattles' 1910 manual The Science of Getting Rich. Affirmations are also most of the time related to the scientific research of neurolinguistic programming and of course hypnosis, which is a more advanced form of affirmation, but slightly more dangerous, as the user has no control over the messages given and often gives control of their subconscious mind to an external source. How this all can benefit you is quite simple; with positive affirmation, you will slowly begin to believe the positive messages that you have been repeating to yourself, and once you mind believes in them; there will be a drastic change in your behavior and your value systems. nnMany people who have undergone this form of therapy have expressed greater euphoria, a higher level of confidence and more energy for life. Their social lives have become more active and they see life with a new perspective. You too can gain the same benefits of this technology and all you need to do is apply the principles of positive affirmations on a daily basis. The good news is that it does not take much of your time and with continued exposure, you will see its effects quite soon, if not immediately.
