When I was playing rugby as a youth and later when I started coaching various youth age group players I observed that the fastest, strongest and the most skilled player usually achieved the most in the game. When I became a professional rugby player and then after retirement I started coaching elite academy players I began to notice that these factors did not seem to matter as much anymore since everybody was fast, strong and skilled. Now this got to me wondering. But as time went on it became obvious that the critical difference was something that Simon Cowell has brought to everyone’s attention over recent years and that’s the so-called X-factor. THE WILL AND THE DESIRE TO WIN. What is this will and desire to win? Simply put, it is your personal drive and desire to be successful in every endeavor that you face and in every task that you do. You may not be aware of it but this will and desire to win is the critical factor in all your endeavors. It will determine if you are successful in business, in sports and in life. Bear in mind it is not related to your physical prowess i.e. your strength or ability. Winning is just not about a sports game or a simple daily task. But winning is having that never say die attitude and outlook that allows you to successfully overcome any and all obstacles that life throws in your face. How can you develop the desire to win? Simple. Developing this desire to win comes from having regular and consistent experiences of winning a lot. However, you can’t experience the euphoria of consistent winning until you master the vital and the all powering technique positive visualization. CREATIVE POSITIVE VISUALIZATION IS THE KEY- THE KEY TO YOUR rnLIFE’S SUCCESS. Positive visualization is the process of developing a clear image of what you want to create i.e. scoring that goal/try, making that pass, holding that trophy etc, and combining it with a strong positive feeling and emotion. A study carried to establish the effectiveness of creative visualization was carried out by some Russian scientists on a group of elite Olympic athletes, analyzing their different training schedules. One group’s regime consisted of 100% physical training. Another consisted of 75% physical training and 25% mental training, The third was split 50% physical training and 50% mental training and the fourth group consisted of 25% physical and 75% mental training. The test results revealed that group four who devoted 75% of their training time to creative visualization outperformed all the other groups. POSITIVE VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUES The simple and easy process of positive visualization can be had through: -Meditation -Mental Projection -Rehearsing -Planning -Foreshadowing AFFIRMATIONS AND POSITIVE VISUALIZATION To turbo-charge the effectiveness of your positive visualization, it is recommended to add auto-suggestion or affirmations to the process. When adding affirmations and to ensure their optimum effectiveness ensure they are: 1 .Personal, where you picture your very self experiencing the successful outcome 2. Positive and Success Focused- Affirm what you want and not what you don’t want 3. Stated in the present tense, as if you’ve already achieved it 4. Emotion and energy filled. Get involved and passionate 5. Make them short and specific, and so making them easy say and remember rnThe power of Positive Visualization should never be underestimated, and it should be integral part of every program of success It will give you the ability to learn how to hurdle obstacles, fears and trials that may have seemed insurmountable in the past. Coupling visualization techniques with the burning desire and the will to win will turn you into an unstoppable force. When your competition is on a par with you in terms of skill strength and ability, these are the things that will give you the edge. Start getting the edge now!
