At some point or another, almost everyone experiences a panic attack. Panic attacks are just extreme manifestations of high anxiety which are a part of a perfectly normal bodily process, however this process is triggered a great deal easier in some people than others. There are many unfortunate people whose lives have become dominated by high anxiety. This article will suggest practical ways for people to deal with panic attacks. Talk to your feelings out loud when you're having a panic attack. Let them know that you're the boss and that you really want them gone as quickly as possible because you refuse to be a host for their ridiculousness. Tell them that you'll be here when they're gone and that you'll always outlast them! Have you ever not gotten out of a panic attack? Well, obviously not or else you wouldn't be alive to read this. It's imperative to always bear in mind that panic attacks are temporary, that they will always go away, and that you can make a conscious decision not to let them rule your life. You are the boss of your body and emotions. If you are prone to panic attacks, it is important that you try to limit the amount of stress that is present in your life. Stress is the main cause of panic attacks. Try doing things that you enjoy and have not done in a while to find something that makes you happy. When you feel the grip of fear during a panic attack, ask if there is anything to truly be scared of in your environment. Is anyone there to hurt you? Can any of the horrible things you're imagining really happen? The likely answer is no, so relax and let the fear drift away from your body. The most effective way to deal with panic attacks is to understand why you're having them. It's critical to recognize the signs of a panic attack when it is coming on: racing heartbeat, rising blood pressure, sweating, and most of all, overwhelming terror that seems to come from nowhere. These physical symptoms are frequently mistaken for a heart attack, it's important for your mind to be sensitive to what is happening in your body, in order to talk yourself out of the attack. If you experience panic attacks, you may find it useful to carry "insurance" in the form of some type of anti-anxiety medication. Medicines such as clonazepam in very small, occasional doses can be extremely effective in quickly calming a panic attack. They are not meant to be taken daily and should, of course, be taken under a doctor's instructions. To distract yourself from the panicky feelings that occur during an attack, try progressive relaxation. Tense and release each muscle group from your toes to your head, and try to focus on the sensations in your muscles. This prevents you from clenching your muscles and gives you something relaxing to do as you wait for the panicky sensation to subside. You may feel that you are not sure how to deal with anxiety because you feel as if you are alone. When you are trying to deal with your panic attacks, it is important that you have people around you to help get through your issues and problems. That is what friends and family are for after all. During a panic attack, one of the worst things you can do is allow the symptoms to get the best of you. Rather than trying to fight the attack, go with the flow. Use your imagination to pretend that the sensations are flowing around you rather than through you. Above all, concentrate on your breathing. Take slow even breaths, and try to remain calm. Eventually, the adrenalin will burn off, and you will feel yourself becoming more relaxed.
