How far away is your big wedding day? One week? One month? One year? Does it matter? It could even be sometime soon and you may not even know it so it’s best to be prepared! If you are planning to lose weight for your wedding it is better to start sooner, rather than later. There are many pre-wedding plans that brides-to-be can choose from, but the earlier you start the better. Ideally you should start on a plan three to four months before your wedding day.

One of the latest diets for brides-to-be is the feeding tube diet in which the bride-to-be is fed for a certain number of days through a tube. You may not be surprised to know that this diet is not going down well with many people. But there are other ways to lose weight: diet pills, hormone shots, and so on. There is also the famous Dukan diet which is said to have been used by Kate Middleton and her mother for the royal wedding (http://www.cosmopolitan.com/advice/health/the-dukan-diet-kate-middleton-weight-loss ).

If you’re a bride looking for a diet, you need to remember that losing weight rapidly is not the only goal. A good weight loss diet for a bride needs to improve overall health and fitness. Good health is usually reflected in the appearance of the hair, eyes, skin and nails. A good weigh loss diet also needs to give the bride-to-be enough energy and nutrition to make it through the hectic planning and running around that happen before the wedding. There are many diets that will help you achieve all this while others may not be so beneficial.

It’s a good idea to choose a diet that you can continue to follow even after your wedding. Why? Sometimes what happens is that you may lose weight for your wedding but put it on again once it is over. Here are some recommendations I’d like to make for brides-to-be so that they don’t start worrying about their weight loss plan.

Follow the basics: There are so many little things you can do that will make a big difference on the big day. Stick to the basics of a healthy diet and exercise:

• Drink plenty of water and cut the sodas

• Don’t skip breakfast and eat nutritious meals

• Add fruits and vegetables to your diet

• Eat lean cuts of protein

• Start exercising by walking, swimming or join a gym

• Cut out or cut down on sugars

Be the early bird: Decide on a weight loss diet plan well before the wedding date and start following it as soon as possible.

Set a goal: You need to set a realistic goal for yourself. Review your health and weight before you start and decide how much weight you want to lose. Aiming for a monthly goal will make things easier. But remember not to aim to lose too much weight too soon because your skin, nails and hair will suffer. In any case it’s a good idea not to lose more than ten kilos at a time.

No matter what pre-wedding diet you choose, always keep these recommendations in mind. They will help you choose a diet that suits you best and helps you get in shape for the wedding dress. Choose a diet you can stick with and one that blends into your lifestyle. This way you’ll keep looking great not just on your wedding day but for the rest of your life. Why not start now? All the best!
