Pregnancy brings in joy for the entire family. Along with joy an expectant mother has to do everything possible for her and the baby’s well-being. A good diet, exercise, rest is a must. These practices of course are in her control. However hormonal imbalances that often lead to yeast infection cannot be controlled.

Yeast infection during pregnancy occurs due to the high level of estrogen which in turn causes glycogen growth in the vagina. This often leads to discharge, itching and many a times foul odor which often causes embarrassment.

Keeping in mind the interest of the mother and baby antibiotics and other medical treatment are not advised by the gynecologists. This leaves the expectant mothers with only one option that is to try out over the counter tropical creams which provide only temporary relief and fail to resolve the hormonal issues and sugar balance.

Therefore the best option is to start taking preventive measures. Drink at least 2 liters of water daily as this will help flush out toxins. Minimizing the intake of sugar and take sufficient rest.

Along with this a pregnant women must find cures which are safe for the baby’s health. The answer lies in using natural products. Include foods like garlic, cranberries, unsweetened yoghurt and tender coconut water to combat the overgrowth of Candida.

To reduce perspiration dress in loose fitting clothes. Do not take antibiotics unless absolutely essential, because they eliminate harmful as well as useful bacteria which in turn causes the bacterium, Candida to expand. Ensure that you male partner does not carry a yeast infection as it can be transmitted to the women as well.

Expectant moms have many other things to worry about, so take these necessary precautions to keep yeast infection out of your list.
