Yes, we all know how the zombies look like. We had the opportunity to see them in the movies even before we saw them in the video games or in the other forms of media, before they became a really popular element of the mass culture. Not to mention the zombie stories that have appeared even before the movies. And maybe we think that we know them well but in some situations, when we have a task to play them (themed party, rpg zombie games, Halloween party…) often happens that we forget some of the main points, so the mask is incomplete. If you think twice, being a zombie is pretty challenging thing because it’s not everything in the makeup. Playing zombie games implies learning zombie walk and zombie talk that also implies learning certain facial expressions. Here are some useful tips that will help you create an authentic zombie out of yourself.
Let us start with the zombie walk. Have in mind that zombies are never in a hurry, so sluggishness is the first thing you should learn. As a zombie, you are dead. Your muscles are weak and your body is rotting, so shuffle rather than walk. Let your arms hang down and act disoriented since your eyes are failing too. To verify this, run into objects. And the last thing about the walk, walk in a group. Horde mentality is one of the primary characteristics of the zombies.

Now is the turn of talk learning. Possibly, you have realized that zombies are not the smartest beings in the world so do not use complex sentence or complicated words. Also, do not forget to speak with a slur or to mumble because the zombie’s mouth, throat and tongue do not move properly, again because their muscles lose control. And you’ll not have a chance to talk a lot, who likes to have a ample conversation with a zombie anyway.

Talk is followed by certain face expression. Your face muscles should be completely relaxed, and allow your jaw to hang loosely. Do not smile, laugh, frown or do some other expressions that ask using the face muscles. As we said before, zombie’s brain is rotting as well, so be careful not to focus on anything except on food or more precisely – brains and flesh. Let your eyes wander without any aim or interest.

The attitude is the most important part generally but we cannot forget the makeup and the costume. Do not forget to accent some points that have great impact. First thing is coloring the face and the hands. Use white, purple, gray or green color for them, applying the color in layers. It is recommended to use power color because grease color can be too heavy if it’s too warm. For creating sunken eye look, use crayon or eyeliner and complete the “dead look” with red, black or blue lipstick. You may color your hair also, using black or green color shampoo. The last thing, before you start with the zombie games, is the clothes. Find old, ragged clothes and finish the look with artificial death wounds.
