Pink is synonymous with breast cancer, as it is the official color for Cleaning For CancerCleaning for Cancer seeks to improve the quality of life for those living with cancer. The company partners with local cleaning businesses to help make a difference in someone's life by giving families the invaluable gift of relief and more time together. We presently partner with cleaning services and hospitals across the country. . Now pink has taken on a new meaning for a grassroots organization in Raleigh, NC: making sure no one is denied breast cancer treatments because they can’t pay for them.rnThe Pretty in Pink Foundation pays for life-saving medical treatment [surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy] for North Carolina patients, regardless of their ability to pay, thus helping breast cancer patients cope medically and financially with the disease.rnTreatments are paid for with financial commitments through sponsorships, fundraising, donations and pledge drives that support the foundation locally and throughout North Carolina. More than 90 percent of the donations go directly to providing the funding required for necessarytreatment, surgery, support and resources to help patients win the fight.rnWith a growing network of healthcare professionals, volunteers and quality of life partners, Pretty in Pink Foundation’s goal is to eliminate financial barriers and provide financial resources to any breast cancer patient with true financial needs for treatment and surgery. Its first goal is to expand its efforts to all counties in North Carolina. The organization says it is positioned to “have a point of presence in every state by 2020.”rnThe organization was founded in May 2004 by Dr. Lisa Tolnitch, a breast cancer surgeon, as a vehicle for breast cancer patients who desperately needed care, treatment and surgery, but had no means of paying for service. Since 1991, Dr. Tolnitch’s practice has focused exclusively on women and breast cancer. She has worked to bring the most effective and least invasive treatments of breast disease to the Raleigh metro area and is a key sponsor and contributor to a multidisciplinary conference to keep all the specialists involved in breast care current on the advances in the treatment of breast disease and breast cancer.rnTo get involved in the program you must be a North Carolina resident who has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is in any phaseof treatment. In addition, you must be a U.S. citizen, be active in treatment and fill out an application that must be approved.rnFor more information, or to fill out an application, go online to www.prettyinpinkfoundation.org or call 919.532.0532.
