Often the only difference between what you currently charge in your business and what you COULD be charging is a matter of how your marketplace perceives you and the value that you deliver. I am going to share three tips to improve your perceived value leading to higher fees and better clients. 1. Send Online Press Releases Keep it simple and start with PR.com. You can send free press releases via the internet this way and have your bio link back to your website. This is an excellent way to be seen as an expert and improve your perceived value. When people read information through the press it is like a third party endorsement which builds trust and confidence. The fact is that you can submit your own press releases whenever you want and the best part is that you can do it for free. Granted there are paid PR firms that will give you more visibility, but starting with a free service like PR.com is a great way to get started. 2. Get Client Testimonials Always get testimonials from past clients. Even if you do “pro bono” work, be sure to get feedback in the form of a testimonial whenever you can. Don’t be shy to ask. Most people will be happy to provide you with feedback, but it’s not a high priority for them so it is your responsibility to ask. Getting testimonials provides valuable “social proof” that what you do works and this in turn improves your perceived value. 3. Be Interviewed A great way to gain exposure, build your prospect list, be seen as an expert and increase your perceived value is to be interviewed by other experts who are already serving your marketplace with a complimentary service or product. If you have a product to sell, it’s also a great way for you to both make some money in the process. But the goal here is to improve your visibility. This instantly skyrockets your perceived value and allows you to command much higher fees moving forward. There are many ways to connect with business owners who would like to interview you for their folks, but one of my favorites is connecting with people using social media. Facebook, Twitter and LinkeIn are all great places to let people get to know, like and trust you. Once you’ve gotten to know one another you can ask to be interviewed for their “list” or subscribers.
