If you have your modest equipment set up or a full-blown exercise room, but don’t know where to start here are a few tips to help you.
It is wise to consult a doctor to get cleared to exercise and advice on healthy eating. Most people don’t understand how important this first step is, especially if it’s been at least 1-2 years of non- existent exercise.
Buy good quality reading material and read lots of it to find out what exercises and nutrition that’s going to work for your fitness needs.
Buy exercise DVD’s to get you into a routine and teach you important techniques on form and safety.
Try to set aside the same time for daily exercise to help make it a natural part of your life.
Start out with exercises that you enjoy doing. After you get good at them, add more exercises and more resistance to get better results.
Keep it simple, if you go too hard it will discourage further attempts. Starting a fitness training routine is hard enough. Don’t allow yourself to over complicate exercise. This time should be fun and rewarding! Remember 20-30 minutes 3-4 times a week is all you need with your strength training workout.
Try and make it a group project with friends for fun, or if you are going to do this yourself, plan on hiring an in home fitness trainer to help you plan your fitness goals.
Always make sure you warm up and cool down, as well as stretch. This helps to prevent injuries and gets the body ready for healing after your workout.
Home gyms are a very non-threatening way to work on fitness, but lack of experience can cause injury. The possibility of losing your drive and enthusiasm is also a distinct possibility. It would be a shame to spend the time and money setting up a home fitness gym to have silly mistakes ruin it.
Finding a personal fitness trainer that has his own equipment that he brings to your home can save tons of money. Plus think of all the space it saves in your home.

ight. If it seems too good to be true, it is. Long term fitness means lifestyle change, and your home gym is a wonderful start.
Make the time to learn good habits and your home gym will be a wonderful addition to your life.
