We all aspire to be successful in everything to do with our lives, be it our professional lives or personal. One way of achieving that is to be more productive, resulting in better professional growth and also making more time for our personal lives to do the things we love the most. The golden rule to be more productive is to “Work Smarter, Not Harder” and these are a few Productivity Hacks to help you get there.
  1. Prioritize your To-Do List.

It’s better to start with the hardest task first so that everything else feels easier. Getting to strike off the hardest tasks initially itself, gives you a sense of accomplishment and will give you the confidence to take the rest of the day head-on.
  1. Early Bird catches the worm.

You can have a huge head start, waking up early from a good nap. A lot could be done in the morning, be it exercising or planning your day; since every morning gives you an opportunity for a new beginning and fresh starts, with very little distractions.
  1. Don’t have too many irons in the fire.

Quit multitasking. Though multitasking might appear to be efficient, it’s usually nothing more than a mirage. Though you may be able to strike off a few from your to-do list, none of it was probably done well enough, ultimately forcing you to do it a later time, when you probably have your hands full.
  1. First in, First out. (FIFO)

Getting into the office early gives you a head start to start your workday before the office chaos kicks in, with relative peace, free of interruption, helping you to stay focused. A relatively unnoticed benefit is that you get to skip the morning rush hour traffic. Getting out of the office early, helps you skip evening rush hour traffic, making it twice the fun.
  1. No means No!

Most people find it hard to say this simple word when you need to say it. To increase one's productivity levels you can’t let people boss you around all the time. “No, I'm busy with a project right now; I’ll let you know if I’m available later" should do the trick most of the time. If you do not speak up and say no, then you will be overloaded with work that you simply do not need to do in the first place.
  1. Ensure all roads lead to Goal.

Don’t take up every task that comes your way. To be productive, ensure that the new task is related and moves you towards a more long-term goal. If the task is non-essential or unrelated to your goals, it’s best to not take ownership of it.
  1. De-clutter your workspace.

While working, get rid of anything you find to be distracting. On your desk, only keep the items that are essential to your task at hand. Often undue stress and distraction could be caused by excess clutter. Make an email filter for the word “unsubscribe” and put all those emails in a different folder, making it skip your Inbox.
  1. Pop up blocker.

New small tasks might pop-up throughout the day. If it can be completed in less than two minutes, do it. It’s only two minutes that you have lost from your day. If no, add the task to the bottom of your existing to-do list, and take care of it later.
  1. Don’t reinvent the wheel.

For routine repetitive tasks and assignments that are created the same way every time, make templates, which are “fill-in-the-blank” type documents. This can be applied for emails, presentations or spreadsheets.
  1. Do what you love. Love what you do

Work could be bland or boring at times. The only way to beat it is to do something that aligns with your passion. The extra hours that you put in will be the most productive when what you do is something that you love.
