There are several studies to indicate that the average weight of men and women in Turkey has increased considerably. The obesity rate in Turkey has jumped from 22.3 percent to 31.2 percent. While economic prosperity has bought in a lot of positive changes, it has also contributed to obesity. Weight loss supplements and pills are a burgeoning industry in the country. But rather than buying these expensive (and possibly harmful) products, it makes sense to choose from natural products. Here are a few products made available by Mother Nature that help in reducing weight:

Green Tea: The health benefits of green tea are legendary. Green tea is known to be rich in antioxidants called catechins. These are known to speed up metabolism and aid the fat burning process. People who continuously drank green tea are known to experience significant drop in BMI and LDL cholesterol.

Apple: True to its proverb, the apple does keep the doctor away! Apples are known to be low in calories, fat, and sodium. It is rich in vitamins and other minerals. When sodium intake is controlled, excess water weight is avoided. The vitamins help in keeping you active. And when you are active you are encouraged to lose weight fast. In fact, doctors even prescribe an apple when people feel tired and exhausted.

Fenugreek: As is commonly known, fenugreek is a seed commonly found in South Asia, Greece, and Egypt. In fact, fenugreek seeds are known to be commonly used in South Asian cuisine. There are several studies to prove that continuous use of fenugreek causes significant weight loss. This is because the seeds are known to contain glucmannan, chitosan, G-sylvestre, and vitamin-C.

Pears: A medium sized pear is known to contain almost six grams of fiber. The fruit is also known to be high in pectin. As earlier said, these are known to aid and abet weight loss. Pectin is also known to decrease blood-sugar levels.

Grapefruit: Eating half a grapefruit before every meal is known to help people reduce almost 3 pounds over 12 weeks. The fruit is said to be rich in phytochemicals that reduce insulin levels.

Nuts: Now this is something that conventional dieticians would ask you to refrain from. But nuts have been found by several researchers to increase metabolism. In fact, just a handful of peanuts are known to contain 165 calories. But people who eat nuts between meals are known to be slimmer that those who don’t. Nuts keep a person full for a longer period thereby causing them to eat less. Besides, nuts also have several health benefits. Walnuts for instance, are rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
