India is a great country for wildlife tourism in the world. There are many wildlife sanctuaries in this country which attract wildlife enthusiasts, backpackers, nature lovers and adventurous enthusiasts from all over the world. Have a look at some of prominent wildlife sanctuaries of India.
Keoladeo Ghana: Located in Indian state of Rajasthan, Keoladeo Ghana National Park is mainly a bird sanctuary. It was formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary because of its location near the town of Bharatpur in Rajasthan. Declared as UNESCO world heritage site it is home diverse species of resident and migratory birds. It also has few species of mammals. Wildlife attractions at this sanctuary include Siberian Crane, Pied Kingfisher, Fishing Eagles, White Harriers, Jacanas, Egrets, Cormorants, Boar, Painted Storks, Nilgai, Chital and Sambar.
Sariska: Located in Alwar district of Rajasthan, Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary has rich flora and fauna. Major attractions of this sanctuary include tigers, leopards, wild dogs, spotted deer, sambar, jackal, Bengal box, etc.
Ranthambhore: Located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, Ranthambhore National Park is India’s one of the finest tiger reserves and animal sanctuaries. It is the place where tigers can be easily spotted even in the day time. Hence it is considered as one of the best places in India to see royal Bengal tigers in their natural habitats. Major attractions include tigers, leopards, wild cats, hyenas, sambar, wild dogs, boar, chital, etc.
Kaziranga: Kaziranga is a famous Indian national park, wildlife sanctuary and tiger reserve. Located in the Indian state of Assam it is one of the finest destinations in India for ecotourism. Major attractions of this sanctuary include one-ho
