GPS systems is a surveting system based on the global positioning are in wide use in many industries today. GPS systems have several advantages over older surveying technology. Obtaining precise geographic which coordinates for all data, reducing turnaround time by producing data that is compatible with digital mapping programs, and allowing data to be tied to map features as it is collected are a few benefits with the GPS systems.
The result would be, the GPS systems convert possible inconveniences to human comfort by using systemic software with life-sized computer mouse to draw a map. A person will be the who will hold a satellite recording device, known as a GPS rover, as they walk along or stand on a given feature. With the satellites, they will be the ones that will determine the persons location as the person moves and transmit that information to the GPS rover. The rover then uses the location information to create a map in real-time.
Although both traditional and GPS survey equipment uses different techniques to record location and they which are both precise. All location in geographic coordinates will be recorded by the GPS system, a method known as geo-referencing. However, traditional survey does not need geography. The location is only recorded relative to a known point with the use of this equipment. Using the geographic coordinates of all other locations that are known only insofar as the location of the reference point is known.
GPS survey systems streamline work flow when producing maps from survey data. A problem with traditional gear arises when combining a given survey with other map information, especially satellite photos. Since GPS survey equipment records all data in universal geographic coordinates, data from different surveys can be immediately combined and presented, often with little or no data processing. Each time a traditional survey is compiled into an existing map, a special conversion is necessary to combine the two coordinate systems instead. When the conversion slows work, this creates opportunities for errors.
The ability of the GPS system to tie non-geographic data to map features. Is also important. Tools to create different types of map objects and build a data table for each type of object comes with the GPS rover software. To give a good example, forestry surveyor or landscape designer using a GPS system can create a 'tree' object and specify that all tree objects have data fields such as type of tree, tree circumference, tree infestations and other data. When the surveyor records a tree, then the device prompts them for the needed information. The data will be ready for analysis as soon as they are downloaded to a computer.
