Proper skin care for toddlers

Young children’s skin is very soft and sensitive, and one has to be careful not to use harsh products that are on the market as well as maintain the softness of a child’s skin. You can ensure good care of the skin by using a moisturizer specially blended for baby skins. Toddlers usually start learning to walk at the age of twelve months and because they are still trying to find their balance they are inclined to fall constantly which in turn causes bruises and their skin becomes dirty from constantly falling on the ground. Moms should ensure that skin hygiene is well maintained. Before your toddler is bathed massage the skin with baby oil. In addition make sure you use soaps and bubble baths that contain moisturizing oils, as your toddler could develop rashes from dry skin. There is a wide range of baby skin products from soaps made from natural oils, bubble baths made from natural ingredients and shampoos which will help to keep the child’s skin well moisturized. When bathing your toddler, make sure you prevent the soap from coming into contact with the toddler’s eyes. After you have finished bathing your baby, use a good moisturizer on their skin that contains almond and olive oil which is especially good for dry and sensitive skins. There are also moisturizers that will prevent the baby from getting nappy rash in the skin folds. Never allow your child to be overexposed to the sun, they only require a few minutes of sunshine at a time, and make sure you use a good baby sunscreen as well as dress the child in loose fitting cotton clothing. Most notably during the summer months, one should pay special attention to your child’s skin care as toddler’s are always exploring and moving around. Young children enjoy playing in the park and outdoors and on the beach, and parents need to heed caution as there are many plants that can cause allergic reactions such as poison ivy the moment the plant is touched and also need to heed caution from the sun’s harmful rays. Ideally a baby’s skin should be washed down in the morning and well moisturized and when taking your toddler out in the afternoon make sure you apply a moisturizer with sun screen and then again in the evening after bathing apply moisturizer. During the winter months a toddler’s skin can also dry out as there is not sufficient moisture in the air, in some instances those that live in very cold climates, the skin becomes chapped and irritated. Taking good care of your toddler’s skin will ensure that their skin will be healthy and radiant throughout their childhood to adulthood.
