Proteins to Help You Lose Weight
You almost certainly are aware that you need to eat proteins. Proteins should be an important source of energy for all people. We cannot live a healthy life if we omit proteins from our meal plans. Proteins increase our endurance. They keep us healthy and are an all important component in maintaining our muscle as well as controlling hunger. But why are proteins important in weight loss and dieting.
Proteins are important because they help us build, maintain and replace our body tissues. See, most of our body parts are made up of tissue. By eating proteins, we sort of fuel our bodies so that they build and maintain the tissue they need to stay healthy. There are many great sources of proteins to help you lose weight and burn off that extra fat you’ve been wanting to shed. Many of these sources are from something that used to be alive or something that came from something that used to be alive.
Some of the best sources include:
- Chicken
- Fish
- Turkey
- Milk
- Eggs and egg whites
- Whey
- Lean beef
- Nuts
Its important to remember that for you to lose weight, you should have a calorie deficit. This means you should eat fewer calories than your calorie maintenance level. A very important key to note here is that one gram of protein contains 4 calories. Hence if you were to eat 50 grams of it, you would consume 200 calories. As far as how much a person should eat really depends on the person himself. The determinant here is how much you work out. If for an average person who doesn't work out that much, he or she should consume 0.5 grams of their body weight. this means you should multiply your body weight with 0.5 to find the number of grams of protein you should consume in a day. Lets say you weighed in at 190 pounds, then you would need to consume 0.5 * 190 = 95 grams.
This is different for the active people who workout regularly, which is a great way to lose weight. these people can consume anywhere from 0.6 – 1.0 grams of their body weight. lets take the example of the person above. He would comfortably eat 114 – 190 grams of protein in a day. Now that you know how much to eat in a day, lets look at tips to help you lose weight and keep it away permanently.
1. Egg whites: many of us think that eggs are full of fat but here is the truth about eggs and egg whites. Egg whites are hard to digest. The body uses alot of energy to digest them and in turn it ends up burning alot of calories. This helps us burn fat and lose weight.
2. Fish: incoporate fich in your diet to lose weight fast and stay healthy. Fish is a great source of protein and good fats. You need fats in your weight loss program as much as you need protein.
3. Use natural yougurt instead of flavoured yogurt.
4. Replace skim, low fat milk for normal milk
5. Always use cereal in your breakfast
Proteins should help you lose weight and keep you healthy. All you need to keep in mind is consuming below your calorie maintenance level.
