Teacup puppies are the most adorable and the cutest dogs that every person would like to have as a pet. They are fun loving creatures. The term ‘teacup’ was used to specify these tiny bundles because they are so small that they fit inside a teacup. These teacup puppies need lot of attention from their owners about their health and food. They have a short life and are more prone to illness. Hence, the teacups should be given the required and necessary vaccinations so as to keep them away from diseases and keep them healthy. After you have adopted a teacup puppy and brought it home, it is advised generally by the vet to wait for a week so that the puppy settles down in the new environment. The first health check up should be done at least after forty-eight hours because quick immunization build up stress and further loss of appetite. On its first check up, the vet will ask the owner to complete the schedule of all the required vaccinations for the teacup. Since these immunizations are very important to keep the puppies free of diseases it is a great responsibility on the part of every owner to take them to the vets regularly. There are various diseases that a puppy can develop. These are Corona Virus, Rabies, Canine Distemper and Infectious Hepatitis. The puppy should be given vaccinations for these diseases. Apart from these diseases, a puppy can also have the following problems: 1) Parvo- The scientific name for this problem is Parvovirus. This virus attacks every kind of dog but attacks the puppies mostly when compared to the adult dogs. The disease can cause sudden death of the puppy. However there is no complete treatment for this disease but vaccinations for its prevention is available that should be given to the puppies during their earlier years. The schedule for Parvo immunization is fixed by a vet when the puppy becomes six weeks old. These vaccinations are to be continued till the puppy attains an age of twenty weeks. 2) Heartworms- Heartworms are parasites and are a common disease in cats and dogs. These worms are present in the heart of the puppy and float freely near the blood vessels. Mosquitoes transmit these worms from one puppy to another. These worms are very harmful for the puppy and affects dog’s health tremendously. To prevent the worms, the pups should be vaccinated when they are around 3-6 months of age. 3) Worms- Worms are also present in the intestines. The different types of worms are tapeworms, hookworms, whipworms and roundworms. These can cause death. So, preventive measures should be taken during the earlier years.
