Singapore is now a well-known tourist spot and to give the travelers a good service, a decent public transportation system has evolved within the entire city. Buses, taxis, light rails and car services are easily available and cost-efficient.
rnOnce Singapore was only a famous vacation destination. But now, it is developing itself. Various universities, office headquarters, business hubs are emerging there. So, people from different countries are visiting Singapore whether for educational, business or job purposes. Some are coming just to enjoy a good trip.
rnTo keep in mind and to provide a hassle-free ride to the visitors, the transportation service in Singapore has been developed quite well. The travelers can take any of the public transport from the outside of the airport. If you are planning to visit Singapore, let’s check it out.
MRT and LRT rail services The mass rapid transit or MRT, can take you to any part of the city you want to go. The MRT network expands to the entire Singapore, covers 153.7 kilometers of route and has 113 stations. It was constructed by the Land Transport Authority, a legislative board of the Government of Singapore in 1982. It encompasses the north-south line, east-west line, circle line, north-east line and downtown lines. The circle line is fully underground and is the shortcut route to reach. To travel by MRT rails, you need to buy an EZ-Link card. You can take a reloadable EZ-Link card or a single trip card and you can purchase them from the Transit-link Ticket Office or Passenger Service Centre counters located at the MRT stations. Single trip tickets can be bought from the ticket machines. You can also possess a Singapore Tourist Pass, which offers an unlimited travel on the MRT system as well as on the bus networks for S$8 per day.
rnCurrently, the light rapid transit or LRT system is accompanied by the MRT service. It has three lines: the Bukit Panjang LRT, the Sengkang LRT and the Punggol LRT. The LRT has an intra-loop service, so that the passengers can shift from MRT to LRT whenever required.
rnBoth the rail services are very cheap and have over road transport to avoid traffic jam.
Bus services Buses are the most available and easy access public transportation service in Singapore. There are two bus facility providers, the SBS Transit which has more than 300 services and 3,000 buses and the SMRT Buses which has more than 100 routes and 1100 buses, both double and single decker vehicles. They also provide night service. The bus commuters provide both long-route and short-route facilities, reasonable fare and are well-known for the hygiene, coziness, customer service and regularity.
The cab services The taxi facility in Singapore is luxurious, comfortable and affordable. All cab drivers are experienced and valid hold license. The fare can be direct or based on the meter system. There are normal cars and also the expensive ones like the Mercedes-Benz and limousine service.
