Most people go into business for themselves because they see a potential opportunity to make a difference and capitalize on a market that they foresee being profitable. Many business owners go into business for the sake of making money. Although there is a medium, this article explains the benefit of keeping the passion behind whatever drives your business.
Before becoming full-time or self-employed entrepreneurs, many of us, including myself, worked for someone else. Most of us found that we could create our own success and had an opportunity to make our dreams become reality. If you’re anything like me, you worked for a boss or company that didn’t necessarily appreciate you or all of your efforts all of the time. Now don’t get me wrong, it is almost impossible to find a job that your boss or employer constantly awards you or praises you for your achievements within your company. But with every business, leadership comes from the top and trickles down.
I’ve worked for companies where there really is no substance behind the company’s goals besides making lots of money. These businesses would chase anything that they thought would warrant more money, even if it meant veering off the road ahead and forgetting about the plan of action already established.
Being an entrepreneur is about taking risks and finding new opportunities. But part of finding these new channels is the ability to focus your attention on the main driving force behind your business. Many entrepreneurs lose focus and try to gather as many “money-makers” as possible, but sticking to the sole foundation of your business is essential.
Back when I was working for some of these companies, I was always blown away at the level of custom support and attention our customers didn’t receive. It was almost like our customers were secondary, and as long as the company was making more money, nothing else mattered.
Growing a financially feasible company involves lots and lots of energy and time invested in the customer experience. From the minute your customer decides to hire you, to the months or years of service you promise, customer support will always lead to more sales. Keep your focus on customer satisfaction and you’ll have a very good chance of growing immensely.
Love what you do, and keep the passion alive:
Let’s face it. Those of us who love what we do for a living still understand that it is hard work. Hard work means long hours tending to client needs, meetings, and of course running the bookkeeping side of your business. But when you have a passion or drive behind your business model, you will vastly succeed against those who are only conce
ed with making the greens. I’ve seen this happen all too often with other businesses.
In conclusion, be as conce
ed with custom service as you are with growing the financial platform of your business, and you will experience healthy and sustainable growth year after year. Always remember that keeping your passion strong for your business, clients and customers, will lead to a growing portfolio and a business that can weather any storm.
