Qantas Airways, which is the flag carrier of Australia, is a 91 year old airline company proud of being the oldest continuously operated airline in the world, while it is the second oldest airline of the world, the name Qantas being an acronym of Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services, given four star rating by Skytrax, voted 8th best Airline in the world, to which place it had slided gradually from its second place held in two successive years 2005 and 2006. Qantas Airways has two primary hubs at Sydney and Melbourne Airports of Australia, whereas there are also secondary airports it operates from at Brisbane, Adelade, Perth and Singapore Changi airports, with a fleet size of 143 connecting 41 destinations, 20 of them domestic and 21 of them international, bearing a proud slogan ‘Spirit of Australia’. Qantas Airways holds also through six of its subsidiaries, including a low cost carrier, besides Qantas Freight established for its freight services and it has code share agreements with 19 international carriers. Qantas Airways has acquired a number of awards sometimes repeatedly in the form of Service Awards, Wine Awards, Entertainment Awards and Design Awards from different Award giving forums. Austrian Airlines is the flag carrier airline of Austria, having its hub at Vienna International Airport, operating a fleet size of 43 aircrafts serving 117 destinations in 64 countries, having code share agreements with 34 International Airline Companies also a member of Star Alliance, it is owned by its parent company Deutsche Lufthansa AG. Austrian Airlines’ subsidiaries are Lauda Air and Tyrolean Airways the later flying smaller destinations, mostly on domestic routes. Austrian Airlines reduced its fares dramatically in recent years, obviously at the cost of quality service and the company stopped the offer of free food and drinks in economy shorthaul, while the frequent flyer program has been made more stringent, while there is no inflight service in most of the flights.
