Do you ever find yourself sad or unhappy and don't know why? You're not alone.
Not long ago, a study stated that for every 100 women, nearly 37 prescriptions for antidepressants are written yearly. These medications typically provide relief of symptoms only after ten weeks of daily intake. Choosing this path requires a long term commitment. Often there are medication side-effects to deal with such as weight gain, sex problems, headaches, and stomach aches. Worst of all, recent studies indicate that placebo sugar pills work almost as well.
Why are you feeling sad? The answer may be as simple as a hormone called serotonin. Problems with the body's serotonin levels have been linked to depression as well as a host of other conditions including agitation, migraines, insomnia, and IBS.
I have found that there is a serotonin blockage in a depressed person, not a deficiency. By "reprogramming" the message computed in the brain regarding serotonin, it is possible to re-establish normal serotonin levels naturally and regain happiness.
It is true that depression is often cause by several factors and today's psychologists recognize nine different types of depression. The complexity of each individual case can never be underestimated.
I once did a random study of my holistic approach for depression with twenty patients. My findings revealed nineteen patients responded positively within six sessions. After a one year follow-up, fourteen patients stated that their despondent symptoms had not returned. That was in the mid 1990s. I have learned a lot since then and believe my results are better. Today I'm aware of the nutritional variances that can affect moods, how traumatic events affect the psyche, also how emotions can trigger childhood events and activate bad memories.
Don't allow life's stresses and challenges to get you down. You can turn things around and reach your goals. It makes sense to seek natural methods first and ask for support, before engaging in a lifetime of antidepressants.
