Writing is one of the important skills of communication. Writing skills are the key asset at every stage of one’s life, from the moment you have started your studies to the day of your retirement. Good writing skills allow you to communicate your message quickly and with ease to large amount of audience/reader. As a student you need to write more quickly while note-taking during class lectures, during examination as it has time limit. Most business professionals, such as marketing, finance, research and development managers etc needs excellent writing skills to convey their messages, ideas and concepts properly. A good writing skill adds to the credibility of the writer and reflects positively of one’s personality. Writing is a skill which has to be learnt. Good thing is that we can learn writing skills by following some simple steps in the language we want to. Plan your writing Writing is portraying your thoughts ideas or concept on paper. This clearly shows that writing is not an instant activity; it means we know well before time the topic and the reason to write. Therefore we can plan our thoughts properly before writing. Create an outline Once our thoughts are ready we are in a position to create an outline of our topic. Outline always helps us to maintain our flow of writing in a structure we need. Always follow the flow with simple words. Use all thoughts which you on that topic. Unwanted writings can be edited on later stage. Use symbols While writing we create a flow which is hindered due to any semantic reason. To avoid this disturbance in the flow of writing we can use symbols when it is possible. It will be good if we set a time limit for our writing. This will make us alert and will provide a push to write timely. Get your draft ready When you finish your writing you will find that structure of your thoughts /ideas is ready in a form of draft. This draft is a rough structure of your thought. Now you need to fair this by reading at least twice. Reading draft makes you clear about your thoughts, you are in a position to find out that what you want to communicate is clear or not. If you are satisfied then it’s ok if not you have a chance to get it edited. rnCheck the grammar and language of the content When your thoughts has taken shape with clarity .It’s time to check the language and grammar of your content. This is the medium through which your thoughts are carried to the reader therefore it should be in the correct form.
