Somehow we may think that by indulging in smoking we are enjoying ourselves. Actually indulging in anything is a form of escape. Smoking interferes with our health, causes us and our belongings to smell like smoke, and is an expensive and time consuming habit.

From my point of view, I quit smoking so many times, that I forget exactly how many times that includes. Actually quit for extended periods of time although kept going back to smoking. Initially my first attempt resulted in quitting for a period of 2-years. My second and third attempts resulted in 6-months as being a non-smoker. My fourth attempt at quitting lasted about 4 months being smoke-free. By the fifth time got really creative and quit every other day. The 6th time tried the patch and got through about 2-months as a non-smoker. Quite honestly by the time of getting to my 5th attempt at quitting smoking felt really discouraged and almost believed that it was easier to just smoke.

Sorry - forgot to mention having also tried the nicotine gum, lozenges and hypnosis. The alte
atives to quitting smoking were costing me a small fortune. The lozenges looked like a life-saver although tasted like chewing tobacco. Same thing occurred with the gum. Yuck! Yuck! I can still remember the taste of the gum and lozenges and it is really disgusting. The patch hurt - each time it released the nicotine my heart would contract. And sleeping with the patch resulted in several very poor nights’ sleep because the patch releases nicotine regardless of the time of day. The hypnosis session cost me $150.00 to have someone tell me, “You can live a healthy and happy life without cigarettes!” The good news is that eventually I reduced my smoking levels to include only smoking before and after work and on the weekends. Guess working a 60-hour week does have some advantages.chains1The worst and most horrible way of attempting to quit smoking was the on/off method. Attempting to quit smoking in this manner meant that I failed every other day. What’s worse is that I actually kept this practice up for a year.

After learning the Release Technique®, 3-years later, I FINALLY made the decision to quit smoking once and for all. The result is that once I found my “wanting approval program” running, the minute the program was cleared, I had no attachment to smoking what-so-ever and have been smoke-free for four years. The entire process took me 15-minutes from start to finish. I immediately knew after clearing the program that I was done with the smoking habit for good. What is surprising to me in writing this article is finding several other programs running in relation to my former smoking habit. So with much thanks and gratitude to the Release Technique® - these programs are no longer running me.
