Race Against The Ultimate Demon

David turned the corner and looked in horror. He pinned his back against the wall and held its breath. He had been chasing the Demon's trail for so long, he had become careless with haste.  rnHis mind racing. Had he made any sound on the journey of the corridor to this point?  rnHe peered around the corner again, it was gloomy. He could see three men in the shadows. One of them stood out, several inches taller than the others and wearing a broad brimmed fat. It was hard to tell any more detail that that as most of the room was in shadow.  rnHe heard scraping sound in the far corner of the room, and realised there was a fourth man.  rnAs his eyes adjusted to the dark he realise the fourth man was kneeling next to an object, a big object, as the sound of the man and grunting and the distinctive scrape and grind of effort it was clear he was trying to open something metallic on the floor. Could this be the Demon, maybe a clue to the Ultimate Demon?   “Open it” came a voice from one of the silhouettes. David guessed it was a tall man, the grunting from the figure on the floor increased in volume and intensity.   “Damn, I just cut myself” came a voice,   “Open it” the silhouetted man spoke again, the level steady voice sending chills down David's back. This was the sort of voice that just got what it wanted. He already sensed a huge dark presence.  rnDavid sighed for breath and felt a trickle of sweat running down his spine. He was suddenly aware of his breathing and forced himself to breathe through his nose hoping that it was quieter. He was perhaps 15 feet away from where this activity was going on, and luckily the efforts of the kneeling man were probably loud enough to drown out any noise is David might have made.  rnHe realised with horror that the silhouetted man had grown still further. His size was now preposterous. His elbows were somewhere near the shoulders of the other shadows that stood around him. He must have been nine or ten feet tall. This was wrong. David realised he was looking at a demon.   “Damn, Demon” David realized that meant extra senses, as it developed but by the looks of it is growing, now. But when he is fully taking his daemon form he will have a sharper sense of smell them the best bloodhound, better hearing than the blindest bat, and eyesight as keen as a hawk.   “I won't be safe here, I need to back off”.he thoughtrn rnIt was the ultimate test of David's patience and concentration. He'd only seen a Demon two or three times before, and much as he wanted to understand what was going on in the room, he knew he couldn't hang about. He stood no chance against the Demonic in his present form. Worse still there were rumours that Biandore, the Ultimate Demon maybe in this area.  rnThe Ultimate Demon who legend told was the son of Beelzebub himself. Cast down to earth to rain terror and to balance out the good deeds of men. Obviously immortal almost omnipotent and with the power to strike a mortal dead with a glance.  rnSuddenly, against the Demon he had an idea. He reached into his pocket for his mobile telephone, fiddled with it from moment and carefully placed it on the floor right with the screen facing into the room. It said something for his actions that David was incredibly possessive of his electronic gadgets, yet he thought nothing of leaving one of his prized possessions there to do a job that he simply couldn't stay and do himself.  rnIf this was the Ultimate Demon, then every scrap of information gleaned at this point would be worth its weight in gold at some point in the future.
