The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque becomes reality, the ground breaking Range Rover has gone into production. The Evoque has gone into production at Land Rover’s Halewood manufacturing plant in Liverpool. The start of production was much celebrated, the Jaguar Land Rover CEO and a number of JLR executive officers, union representatives and employees all celebrated production of the Range Rover Evoque starting. The first vehicle to come off the line will be donated to the British Motor Industry Heritage trust before it hits Evoque dealers in West London. Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Executive Officer said, "The Evoque is an incredibly exciting vehicle that joins a product range which across both of our brands is the strongest we have ever had - and it fits in perfectly. The teams that have designed engineered and built the new Evoque, working together with our research and supplier partners, can be immensely proud of their achievement. Worldwide interest in our new car has been exceptional, with 18,000 customer orders received from customers eager to be among the first to own the new Range Rover." In order to efficiently produce the range Rover Evoque, the workforce at the Halewood car plant has doubled, taking the number to over 3000 employees. 75% of the models produced will be exported to over 170 countries around the world, adding approximately £2 billion to the UK economy. 50% of the components for the new Range Rover Evoque are made in Britain, with contracts worth £2 billion awarded to over 40 UK supplier businesses.
