Potato, found in every Indian home is one of the common food and one of the most important foods that is available to us. Also in terms of the price, they are one of the cheapest foods available. It is a staple diet for most of the population in this world because it also has a lot of health benefits. Most of the children do not eat vegetables, so a far better way of making them eat vegetables is by including potatoes in the dish. That is the beauty of this staple food. We will hardly find a person who does not like potatoes. It is a part of our major diet. We tend to find it in almost every dish we make as a subordinate to the recipe. Potatoes can be made, all alone as well. Today, it has become almost impossible to imagine your life without potato. They tend to be low in calorie. Also a good source of vitamin C and B6. Regarding the ways to cook, they can be made in many forms like that by baking, frying, steaming, mashing them, and also by cutting slices out of them. However, if we talk about the way of cooking, there is a lot of debate going as in what is the best way of cooking the potatoes. According to a research, baking is the best way to cook potatoes reason being that while baking minimum amount of nutrients get lost. The next best way is to cook the potatoes through steaming, which is believed to cause less nutrient loss. Boiling tends to cause the maximum nutrients out of the three. With potatoes you can make a lot of recipes like that of dum Aloo, fried potato, catapult Aloo and many more. Potatoes were first cultivated in Central and South America region. We present to you the Greek potatoes. The recipe is simple to make. The best part about this recipe is that you can adjust the stuff you add according to your requirements. Ingredients: • Big potatoes, especially peeled and also cut into large wedges. • Garlic cloves, try to have more of them as it will enhance the flavor of the recipe. • ½ cup olive oilrn• 1 cup waterrn• 1 tbsp dried oregano, it would be better if you get the Mediterranean oregano • 1 lemon, juicedrn• Saltrn• Ground black pepper, preferably fresh and coarse How to prepare? • Preheat oven to 421 degrees. • Keep all the ingredients into a large baking pan. The pan should be large enough to hold them. • Sprinkle salt and black pepper. • Toss the pan so that everything gets distributed evenly. • The flavor of garlic will get into the potatoes and enhance the taste. • Bake for around 40 minutes. • When you see potatoes turning to golden brown colour, turn them upside down so that the white colour part comes up and again sprinkle salt, black pepper and oregano. • If you find pan getting dry, pour ½ cup of water into it and keep it back into the oven for the other side of the potatoes to get brown. • Bake for another 40 minutes. • You can overcook the potatoes, in any case they will turn out to be very delicious. Important Tips: Use aluminium foil so that it remains moist and also cleaning the stuff later will be easy.
