What happens after death is so unspeakably glorious that our imagination and our feelings do not suffice to form even an approximate conception of it. The dissolution of our time-bound form in eternity brings no loss of meaning.rnCarl Jung 1875 – 1961rnCarl Jung is by far not the only one who knew in the very core of his being, that death is just an illusion and that indeed, a glorious new phase of our life is only just starting as we shed our clothes of flesh. He was, though, fortunate to have had a first-hand experience of it.rnEvery so often, when I think of my own departure from Planet Earth, I am filled with this barely containable excitement at all that is to come ‘afterwards’.rnWhilst some people may fear or apprehend this small transitional moment called ‘death’, I usually look forward to it to varying high degrees, and at times these degrees can be extremely high indeed!rnI am in fact looking forward to absolutely everything that death has to offer: a new beginning, a shedding of my clothes of flesh, a shedding of my weighty self for a weightless one, moving at the speed of thought, remembering divine knowledge, remembering who I truly am, starting to know God truly, embracing my ascension to the 352nd level to a total emergence with the Godhead, embracing my oneness with All That Is, and, and, and …simply too many goodies to mention…but all of it extremely appetising and so exciting!rnI believe that none of us can truly live freely on Earth before we have not turned death into an old acquaintance or an old cardigan we can slip on from time to time and get cosy with.rnDeath could be called the ‘grand illusion’ that throws so many of us into massive turmoil of fear and uncertainties, yet I smile when I think of it…At times, I feel I should keep my feelings about it very … secret… just for myself. And then I feel it is selfish not to share my intimate relationship with death.rnIntimate, not because I have witnessed so many departures from planet Earth, but intimate because my knowledge of Life, the whole of Life, has made death only a small part of that immense process of living, in the physical and non-physical format. I so want to say that ‘there is nothing to it’, ‘one moment you are here, the next you are there’… and carry on living, just not in the same way.rnMaybe the light-heartedness I experience around death cannot really be shared indiscriminately; maybe it is just too personal, intimate, untransferable…rnOne way or the other, my willingness to share can only be welcome or rejected. If it is welcome, then I can certainly invite anyone to try on my ‘old cardigan’ and get a feel of it, and let their fear be cleansed away in the next wash, so to speak!rnI would so welcome the day when the whole mystery and fear surrounding death is totally abolished from the human psyche. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, the top-most expert on death and dying, shared her intimate knowledge of death with the world. She left us a tremendous legacy. All of her books are well worth reading and re-reading. And all stories of near-death experiences are such great reads and comfort to us. I have especially in mind the amazing story of Betty Eadie ‘Embraced by the Light (one of the best in my opinion) and Dannion Brinkley ‘Saved by the Light’.rnYou may one day come to me and say ‘Isabelle, death is an ‘old cardigan’ to me now, and I will ‘rejoice madly’ with you!!
