Relationships rnA successfull relationship requires a lot of work. We know this. But what are the ingredients that are necessary for a successful relationship to work. For one both parties have to begin by understanding who their partner is. It is very important to have a clear picture as to who your partner is and what you can expect from him or her. Usually, it is very easy for us to project a different image unto our partner in our hope and romantic illusion that we have found our perfect partner. It is very important to take as objective a look as possible and understand what this persons education and background are and how they relate to you. Also, it is very important to understand who this person’s parents where and what type of education he or she received growing up. This serves as an essential foundation on who the person becomes and what they are as a product of that education. The next step is acceptance. It is very important for both parties to accept each other for who they are. Full acceptance of who your partner is also implies responsibilities because you are not only accepting this person but you are also accepting any tendencies, acts, moods, and behavior. In an ideal relationship these two parties meet, accept a true rendition of each other and then look together to help each other in becoming better human beings. This is also a very key element in a successful relationship. Both must admit that they have faults and should take steps individually and collectively to grow and to resolve many of these personal issues. This accepted growth and development is part of a collective project to become better people and create a better relationship. As if all of this were not enough, it is also essential that the couple have a very open honest and clear line of communication. It is very important that as a couple two people can communicate their thoughts and emotions in order to resolve and work through so many issues that become a part of life. There must also be a mutual and strong friendship between the partners where they are comfortable with each other in every respect. Also, a couple must make sure that they attend to each person’s romantic and sexual needs. This means that the person must be very sensitive to a partners sexual, emotional and physical needs throughout their relationship. This is sometimes very difficult to do because both partners should always keep the mutual physical attraction active and burning. The partners should also be very sensitive to the other persons’ emotional needs as well. It is very important to be able to listen to your partner well and to make him or her feel accepted. The partner should always be in tune with the other partners feeling and thoughts which is actually quite easy to do if you are very close to your partner. In summary, for relationships to work both of the partners have to be selfless. For all of these things to work out in a relationship both partners will have to take turns at being completely selfless in trying to understand and support the other. It takes going beyond the ego of selfishness and of “I am right” and “He is wrong”. It requires an objective vision of selflessness from the partners in order to make a relationship work. There is so much work to be done in relationships: nurturing, loving, listening, caring, supporting that it is important to always keep in mind that it begins with a selfless attitude from both parties.
