Medical terminology defines a headache as a condition of the head of an individual that presents pain within the head. Due to the intensity of discomfort and nagging levels of pain that are associated with such malady, sets suffering individuals in a desperate search of alleviation for home remedies for headache. Of any pain in conjunction with all encompassing ailments, headaches rank among the highest reported complaints where discomfort is associated. Painkillers are probably the first thing you reach for whenever you get a headache. Occasional use of mild painkillers shouldn't be too much of a problem... but did you know that if you regularly use painkillers to dull your headache, you could actually be making it worse...?

Natural remedies for headaches can be really helpful whether you suffer with chronic headaches, or just have them every now and again. Natural headache remedies seem to have far less side effects and they are going to cost you less money than a prescription drug, or even some of the other the counter medicines. Herbal remedies have been used for centuries and are making a comeback in recent years. They are readily available in many forms at your local health food or natural food store. Many are now available at pharmacies. Herbs can be used in many different forms. Tea is the most common. However, capsules are now available in almost every herbal formulation.

Of course, most of us take pain killers and aspirins and whatever kind of medicine is more easily accessible and available remedies for headaches, but what if the medicine you are using does not work, the pain persists, even intensifies, and comes back again and again, and is different than normal headaches in such a weird manner that it affects only one half of your head, or a certain spot. Apply pressure to the area where your thumb and index finger connect. Apply as much pressure as you can stand for a minute or so. As time passes while you are doing this, you will notice the pain in the head start to subside. This is a great acupressure treatment that works quite well. Do NOT use this technique if you are pregnant. Doing so can cause abdominal contractions and may result in premature delivery.

Re-hydrate. Medical researchers still don't know fully understand why, but dehydration is a common trigger for all kinds of headaches. Whenever I notice the beginning of a headache, I make sure to drink pure water right away. If it's available, I drink fresh coconut water instead. That's because it is so high in electrolytes which serve to re-hydrate the cells of the body more quickly than plain water. Rebound headache ,which are also known as analgesic-abuse headaches, are a subtype of primary headache caused by overuse of headache drugs. Cluster headaches are a rare but important type of primary headache, affecting mainly men. Cluster headaches occur daily over a period of weeks, sometimes months. Cluster headaches primarily affect men between the ages of 20 and 40. Traction and inflammatory headaches are symptoms of other disorders, ranging from stroke to sinus infection.
