A whole-home remodel is a massive undertaking no matter what the circumstances. Of course, attempting to do this while living in the home or when the remodel is a result of an unexpected emergency (weather damage, mold intrusion, etc.) is much more complicated. As well, the home's location itself is an issue, as the potential for extreme weather intruding on your project (and home!) is obviously much greater in the northeast than, say, in southern Arizona. That means northeaste
homeowners, such as those in Massachusetts (MA) and Connecticut (CT) have much more to consider when hiring professionals for their remodeling jobs, as they simply have more at stake.

Timing Isn't Everything - But It Sure Is Importantr
When hiring professionals for a remodel, such as roofing contractors, Massachusetts and other northeaste
homeowners should always look into the contractor's' record of timeliness. How many online reviews do you see stating that your potential siding contractor was unreasonably behind schedule? What do past clients of that window replacement company have to say?

When you're up against Mother Nature's clock and need that job done before the first snow, this is a major issue to consider, especially when hiring companies whose work involves protective elements of your home, such as roofing contractors. Massachusetts residents should also keep in mind, however, that getting the job done on time really doesn't matter if it's not done right. Quality counts, and a reputable, reliable remodeling contractor would rather experience a short delay (and communicate this clearly and professionally with his or her client) than rush the job and risk doing it to a lower standard.

Things Worth Paying Extra Forr
During a remodel, there are a lot of "extras" in those tempting catalogs. Upgrades, extras, special finishes, and customizations do add to the fun of a project, but it's important to try to keep track of those little things, because in the end, they can add up to a big increase over your original cost projections. Plus, some of those add-ons simply aren't worth the money.

When deciding where to invest and where to save in a remodeling project, there are two key areas to consider: resale value and energy efficiency. Both of these project elements are important factors when choosing new windows. CT homeowners, for example, know that having the right windows is imperative for storm safety. But many people don't realize that today's energy-efficient replacement windows can add to the value of your home by significantly decreasing your energy consumption, something today's buyers value greatly.

If you choose to install energy-efficient replacement windows, CT homeowners should also keep in mind that not all contractors carry the same product lines. Take the time to review the available options on the market before hiring someone and locking yourself into their preferred product lines.
