Tram Scrolls were printed canvas blinds used in trams in the early 20th century. People somehow have the fascination for these types of blinds for homes, offices and other places. They are perhaps attracted by the antique value of the replicas which are the only ones available nowadays. Similar is the case with Bus Scrolls also. Some of these replicas relate to scrolls which were used much later, into the second half of the 20th century. The company that produces make them in two standard sizes but with different finishes and colour schemes. Full effort is made to give the products antiquated look by producing what are called weathered versions.

The Tram Scroll and Bus scroll were made of cotton canvas with looking and feeling quite rough. Present day producers use the same material so that the buyers may get a feeling of buying something very similar to the originals. Present day bus and trams scrolls are offered in different colours, apart from common black and white. These colours are beige, brown, pastel blue. To give the product a look of antiquity cream lettering as in the original scrolls is used. People appreciate it because the lettering is done to look like the tram destination of old. The lettering is done three different formats, trying all the time to keep it as close to the style used originally. The three different modes of lettering are the underlined and centred text, full lined non underlined text and the latest and most modern version.

Tram banners of old have also an attraction for the modern man. The reason is the material used for the banner, the colour of the banner and the lettering used. They were used in the olden days as advertisement for promotion. Old is gold goes the saying and the attraction the modern has for these can be ascribed to that. Antiques are prized items and their owners feel really proud about them. Unfortunately for such people only replicas are available in spite of the efforts of the producers. Even cheaper versions using poly cotton and plastic canvas have entered the market.

Companies who manufacture tram and bus rolls also produce a wide range of bus Destination blinds. All sales are online and the buyer has the privilege of getting his own design printed on his ordered material, by selecting the dimensions, colour, and style. These particulars conveyed through email will enable the buyer to have a scroll of his choice. Quick deliveries are promised, with printing done on individual scrolls.

The lettering on the original scrolls is one of the reasons for the modern man’s fascination for them. Lettering for bus and tram destinations has to be done not only in bold letters but also in an attractive and clear format. Bus sign art is therefore considered as a speciality. The lettering in the old scrolls must be having something special to be attractive to people even now. Present day printing uses inks lasting for more than 50 years and special canvas with invisible laminates.
